I
decided that a review section would be good for aftermarket products
and mods. It's good info for other owners to know about inferior
products or vendors (as well as those that are really good).
DEFT
RACING, California Based.
Deft
racing
makes hoods and some other items for the 3000GT's and Stealths.
Unfortunately the Deft hoods are not up to par on quality expected.
Promised
delivery was 2-4 weeks. After almost 12 weeks I had to email (again)
to insist that either a hood be sent or I get my money back.
I
got sent a hood that was defective and used. Picked up a replacement
from a friend that had a Deft hood awaiting install.
Deft
website states 'ready for paint' (now has been changed to 'ready
for prep and paint). Yeah, far from ready. It takes HOURS of prep
work to make deft hoods ready to paint. A lot of defects in the
product and extremely poor finish..
Fit:
The Deft hoods do not fit anywhere close to OEM. Over a 1/2"
gap between the front bumper and the hood. Same with sides at fender.
They also do not sit flush without a lot of adjusting. Deft's answer
to this? The old "they all fit that way" and "no
one seems to mind",,,,lol (ridiculous).
Overall
Score (1-5, 1 being worst, 5 being the best):

Overall
for Deft Racing hood- very bad for the price (not worth the price).
Suggestion
- Cianci
Performance (Vancouver WA) has hoods that fit nicely and also
come with very nice finish. Also excellent service from Ryan Cianci
who is very accomodating to owners/customers.
